Mount Bromo (Javanese: ꦧꦿꦩ), also known as Gunung Bromo (Javanese: ꦒꦸꦤꦸꦁ ꦧꦿꦩ; Pegon: ڮنڠ برومو; romanized: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano located in East Java, Indonesia. It forms part of the Tengger mountain range. Standing at 2,329 meters (7,641 feet), it may not be the tallest peak in the region, but it is undoubtedly the most iconic. The name “Bromo” is derived from the Javanese pronunciation of “Brahma,” the Hindu god of creation. A top tourist destination, Mount Bromo lies within the spectacular Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

During the astro expedition & workshop, our expert astro masters will guide you through capturing stunning landscape and Milky Way nightscape images. We offer both online and offline workshops, demonstrating advanced techniques for shooting the Milky Way using either star-trackers or fixed tripod methods. You’ll also take part in intensive post-processing sessions, ensuring you make the most of every shot you take in the field.

Mount Bromo, part of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, is a truly unique destination where raw volcanic landscapes meet a breathtaking, almost heavenly night sky—making it a must-visit for stargazers and astrophotographers.
The best time to view the Milky Way is during the dry season, from April to October, when clear skies provide optimal conditions. From this vantage point, you can capture the Milky Way rising above Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru, creating dramatic and unforgettable compositions.
At 2,329 meters above sea level, the elevation places you above much of the atmospheric haze, offering exceptionally clear skies and excellent astronomical seeing conditions.
